The Cottage
Vine Cottage is a newly built, three bedroom eco bungalow, completed in 2025 and finished to a boutique standard throughout. Once you are inside it is all on a single level, with vaulted ceilings and an open plan living space at its heart, and it comfortably sleeps up to six guests, plus an infant in a travel cot.

Hotel quality bed linen and towels are included, and a travel cot and high chair are available on request.
Two modern bathrooms
Two bathrooms serve the cottage: the en suite off the master bedroom, plus a separate family bathroom. Both are finished to a modern standard with rain showers and heated towel rails.
Open plan living under vaulted ceilings
The heart of Vine Cottage is a bright, open plan kitchen, dining and lounge under vaulted ceilings. The kitchen is fully equipped for proper cooking, with a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer taking care of the boring bits. The dining area seats the whole group, and the lounge is built around a 65 inch Smart TV and a real log burner for cooler evenings. Every bedroom has its own TV too, so there is space for everyone to unwind their own way.

The wood fired hot tub
A wood fired hot tub under the Sussex stars is one of the most memorable parts of a stay here, and it is available all year round. It is completely chemical free and filled fresh with clean water for every stay, so all you smell is woodsmoke and all you hear is the crackle of the fire.
Lighting and tending it is part of the experience: we have it filled and ready before you arrive, you light the fire and add logs every 30 to 60 minutes while it heats, and depending on the outside temperature it takes between 3 and 6 hours to come up to temperature.

Vine Cottage was built to prove that sustainable and beautiful are not a trade off, and it has the recognition to back it up: we are proud winners of Sustainable Build of the Year 2025, awarded by The Developers Club.
From the timber frame and solar array to the air source heat pump and battery storage, the eco credentials are built into the fabric of the house rather than bolted on afterwards.
It is a home that treads lightly without asking you to compromise on comfort.
Meet the family who built Vine Cottage
We are Add and Lucy, a small family with two young boys, and Vine Cottage is ours. It started as a derelict bungalow that most people would have driven straight past. We bought it, demolished it, and rebuilt it by hand on the same footprint as the eco home you see today: timber framed, solar powered and warmed by an air source heat pump.
Lucy works in electrical wiring and Add’s background is in property development and construction, which is the real reason we were able to build this place ourselves, exactly the way we wanted it. Now we run it ourselves too, and every stay is looked after by the two people who know the house best.
